When downloadable content just works!

I've been playing Lostwinds again on my wii and thought I'd write a bit about why I love this quite small but perfectly formed game.  The quality of games on the wii has been a bit hit-and-miss, something I will talk about in another post, but when they are good, the quality is absolutely stellar.  This is definitely the type of game that only the wii can do so well.  If only more developers took a leaf out of this book!

Sometimes when I'm lying in bed trying to sleep i think about what could have been...and I know it's unhealthy but I can't help myself!  By way of context-setting, I finished High School last year and am taking this year off before university starts in March next year.  I had planned on spending the year travelling overseas but I had a particularly bad experience (that I will recount another time) and came back to Australia not one month into my proposed twelve month journey.

After realising that was a stupid mistake, I went about planning for what to do in my year off back in Australia.  I eventually came up with the idea of writing a novel, after reading an article about teenagers who became successfully published authors.  So I came up with an idea, started on it for a couple of weeks, gave up, started anew.  And again.  And again.  And then lo-and-behold six months have passed and I have barely written two thousand words.

Which is all a long introduction to the fact I shall be partaking in National Novel Writing Month next month.  I NEED to finish this thing!  Well start it, really.  And I can think of nothing better than an online community full of likeminded people attempting to write and write and write!  I don't want this to fail, I don't want this to become another chapter in my life I will sorrowfully as I'm trying to get to sleep.

I sense a lot will hinge on this thing.  My self confidence, the way I set goals, the way, ultimately, I live my life.  I hope it is a successful experience!!

If you have done it in the past, or are doing it this year, tell me and we can keep each other going!!

'Tis the season for scary movies. Some rank The Evil Dead as the best horror film of all time. What is your favorite scary movie?

My favourite scary movie is definitely the original Halloween.  I love that it's so spare and takes time to build the scares.  The camera work is so fluid and non intrusive, unlike a lot of today's horror movies.  And that theme music is haunting!!  I remember first watching last year and being blown away by how chilling it was.  And Jamie Lee Curtis <33!

This is exciting I am belatedly jumping on the livejournal bandwagon!  ^^  Two years too late, but better late than never ey?

I think I shall make this my base, and stop updating my dA journal.  Between this, dA, myspace, facebook, wordpress, blogspot, twitter and tagged I think I am stretching myself a bit thin on the net communities front.  So I will keep this and dA for my creative/hobbies side and facebook for real world friends socialising, and drop everything else.  If that makes sense :S

Anyway this is quite exciting for me (no really, it is!!) and I promise it will eventually become more exciting for you than it it currently is!!!!!!!!!!!!!  xD
